Wii Softmod Guide Updated for 4.3

I just wanted to post to let everyone know that the softmodding guide has been overhauled and updated to support firmware 4.3. Alien Swarm Group and Dedicated Server

I decided it was needed, I created a new group called Alien Swarm Ninjas aka ^a|s|n^. Not only have I created a group for steam, but I also linked a dedicated server to it!

Want to play on our dedicated server? Its simple, join our group in steam. Its free to join, aka public, and once you join it — it will show up in the Steam Group Servers section of the Alien Swarm game once you fire it up!

Wiiflow 2.1a2 (r92) released

The wiiflow team has done it yet again with a much needed update since the last update. Several bug fixes and this time they managed to package up all of the themes.

Fixes:

*Random typo's
*wiiflow.ini path changed to main wiiflow directory as a static location
*down-loader fixed -- was choosing wrong versions
*Fixed downloader bug sometimes DL wrong version.
*Wiiflow now exits after successful update to boot new version.
*Add release and beta macros to makefile, and independant bash scripts for them.
*Edit default.ini to increase performance.
*Update versions.txt

We recommend cIOS 249 as the proper download choice, but as of late, wiiflow does also come in cIOS 250, 223, 222 & 224. Get your copy below:

Well, yet another wiiflow update has been released. At the time of this post, its just 8hrs old.

Wiiflow 2.1 release.
Updater fully functional and has hosting.
Fix reported bugs since 2.0.
Ability to sort games by 4 different settings, Press B+Down
Ability to switch partition by Pressing B+Up in main screen.
More fixes and small additions.

This release is quite nice as it comes with a few themes this round and several flavors of cios choices. The most prevalent is the iso 249 release and thats the one I recommend. So whats new in this release? Lots of bug fixes and coding fixes. Basically its a much more reliable product.

Turn your Wii into a Media Center with WiiMC

Time has come to actually start using our Wii’s as something other than a game playing/hacking machine and use it in our everyday multimedia needs. WiiMC does just that, allowing you to play just about anything on your TV through your Wii.

You will need to have a softmodded wii, but don’t worry, you can just follow my guide and get that taken care of.

Ability to play virtually any video or audio format
DVD playback, with DVD menu support
Picture viewer
Music player
Online media support
SD, USB 2.0, SMB, HTTP, and FTP support
Attractive libwiigui-based interface, designed with the Wii in mind

Download WiiMC from their website and install it on your Wii’s SD card. The usual file structure applies — (/apps/wiimc).

You can link up a network share to a folder that contains your media you wanna play on your Wii. Thats how I have mine set up. Most of us also have USB drives connected to our PORT 1 of the Wii and it also senses that automatically and the link in WiiMC goes away when your USB drive/stick is disconnected. Neat!

This is a MUST download for anyone with a softmodded Wii.

Pogo Pool Addiction

Well, I must admit, (its the 1st step anyways) I am addicted to High Stakes Pool in Pogo. I have been playing it all day today. They offer a style of pool called Cutthroat, and this variation is particually addictive. There are 15 balls, 3 colors, and 3 people. No silly numbers to deal with.

Rules are simple, knock in your opponents balls and ensure your balls are last standing. As simple as it is, its actually quite fun.

I believe I made something like 10,000 coins today just playing some pool. I am saving up for the million mark. But enough about me…

After googling, i found a link that sends you to various pogo websites and in return you get like 300,000 coins. Now who wants in? Make sure your already signed into pogo.com.

MPlayer CE r565 Beta

I was prowling the mplayer google code website just a moment ago and noticed a mplayer beta release that came out on Feb 10th. This is the 1st release since the 26th of november and a lot has changed. It is a beta so use at your own risk of course.

WiiFlow v1.1 Revision 25

Wiiflow is a USB launcher for the Nintendo Wii. This nifty little program will allow you to play, install and uninstall game backups via any usb device that is formatted to use WBFS (File System). This file system is nice because it only reconizes the data that is in the game backup and not the extra filler space that makes up, in some cases, up to 90% of the file size. Now you can store your entire library of Wii games on a single hard drive and improve your Wii’s performance and longevity.
